
Windy City Storm Welcomes Ryan Taylor as General Manager of Hockey Operations

Palatine, Illinois — The Windy City Storm is proud to announce the hiring of Ryan Taylor as the organization’s new General Manager of Hockey Operations.
Widely recognized as one of the most respected coaches in the hockey community, Ryan brings over 25 years of experience developing players of all ages from across North America.
A Proven Leader in Youth Hockey
Before joining the Storm, Ryan spent four years in a similar leadership role while coaching with the Chicago Reapers in Mount Prospect, Illinois. Under his guidance, the Reapers earned:
- 4 State Championships
- 3 State Runner-Up finishes
- A combined coaching record of 391-117-24
Prior to the Reapers, Ryan served in several prominent roles:
- Hockey Director & Coach, Highland Park Falcons (10 years)
- Director, Bauer Selects
- Assistant Hockey Director & Coach, Chicago Mission (4 years)
- Director & Coach, Chicago Young Americans (7 years)
In recognition of his excellence, Ryan was named Illinois Youth Hockey Coach of the Year by AHAI in 2019.
Player Background and Accolades
A native of Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Ryan began his hockey journey with the Burlington City Reps AAA. He went on to play in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) with the Burlington Cougars before playing collegiate hockey at Lake Forest College in Illinois under Coach Tony Fritz.
While at Lake Forest, Ryan was a two-year Team Captain and the recipient of the Peter G. Taylor Award in 1997–98, honoring his outstanding talent, leadership, and love for the game.

Ryan currently resides in Lake Bluff, Illinois, with his five children, all of whom share his enthusiasm for hockey.
